Re: Finally introducing my SMB

Welcome!.....and nice van!

The running board-ectomy looks good as well, especially since it appears those running boards were intended for an RB body.

I also do a number of mock-ups for interior stuff before committing to the real materials, great way to optimize the concept. By the time you are fabricating something for the third time you usually have a pretty good idea of what you want. Sometimes I just throw caution to the wind and fabricate something once.

That 86Scotty guy can give you a case of Empty-Wallet-Syndrome if you try to keep up with his ideas/mods

Great van, great intro

Yeah, I know. I'm just no good at sitting around watching TV, or work.

This statement is the truth (except the coffee part, I don't drink coffee). Something about driving down the road and not being in a hurry, knowing you will get there when you get there, is a great experience.

You know I took the VW off road about 2 weeks ago in the mountains, got into some steep grades with switchbacks, and got to thinking about the SMB and 4x4 in general. I'd love to have it 4WD but not sure when I'll get around to it.

Re: Finally introducing my SMB

A little more on the previous owners; they were great to deal with. They said they're doing the opposite of what most others do, they've been traveling with their business (that's why they had the SMB) and now they want to retire and stay home.

They make stoneware (pottery?). You can see their work here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/194063587/ ... =related-0

If you can see the blue mug on the site, they had 2 mugs for me like that in the van. I'm keeping them in there for coffee on camping trips. I used them on the maiden trip. They also grow much of their own food, and when I picked up the van they had a few bags of fresh tomatoes and figs for me.

At some point I mentioned my wife likes hummingbirds and we have feeders in our backyard. The other day I received this mug in the mail. Isn't it awesome?
