Financing Problems

Need advice or recommendations on lenders who know something about Sportsmobiles. I found a van to purchase and bank "approved" me for the agreed price, but now that they have the VIN they said "no go". The underwriter pulled up information on NADA which has Sportsmobiles, but no option for 4x4 or other accessories, and indicates a range of values from $15k - $24k. I tried to walk them through the sportsmobile website but they would not budge. Any specific advice or known lenders would be appreciated.

Re: Financing Problems

We went through our credit union and it was a breeze. The credit union wanted the original build sheet and invoice , VIN, and a couple of photos. That's it. I have heard from others that they had similar experiences with their credit union.
We financed it as an RV.

Re: Financing Problems

Thanks for the info Saline. If you don't mind, can you let me know which Credit Union you used?

I will talk to my Credit Union and offer them the original invoice and maybe an appraisal.

Re: Financing Problems

I believe SMB will assist with "valuation" explainations. Try getting calling Fresno tomorrow, they probably have the original build sheet by VIN.

Re: Financing Problems

Per Alan at SMBF, direct, not second hand:
there is a difficulty in getting loans

i am sure they will assist, but i think shopping around
and taking print outs of the prices on used inventory will help also

if it would help, i can send my build sheet from 2001

I agree with Saline, Credit unions rocks! When we were in the market, they are willing to finance us on our build or a used one.

Re: Financing Problems

Based on advice from Dave-adventureduo I went with State Farm Bank.
They had SMB in their system and it was cake.

It was Grand Junction Federal Credit Union (GJFCU).

Re: Financing Problems

I thought the American way was nothing down, interest only payments, and it's never really yours until the bank comes and takes it away.

We looked at a foreclosure where it appeared the previous tenants were living at the edge of the property in a class A with all there stuff under a tarp on a trailer. They'd clearly been encamped for some time, and apart from the property being overpriced, it certainly looked like a headache we didn't need.

Anyway, if somebody wants to pop over to the WIKI and enter this info under a "Finance Options" section that would help it form being lost. Just log in with your same username and password and you can add and edit any information for future reference.
