Ford Extended Warranty

I received an email from SMBW today with a flyer attached

Dear Sportsmobile Owners,

J Minto at Towne Ford has just announced that there may be an Extended Service Plan available for your Sportsmobile. Since diesel engines are no longer available on Ford Vans this is a great opportunity to protect your investment. Please see attached flyer for details.

To purchase the Extended Service Plan or for more question you may contact:
J Minto at Towne Ford

The flyer appears to be the Ford Diesel EngineCare and Plus plan.

Just last September I asked our local Ford Dealer (Hansel Ford) if this plan was available to me with the SMB 4x4 conversion. He said absolutely not.

Unless someone else has already done it I will give J Minto a call tomorrow to try and get an explanation.
I won't post the flyer as it belongs under some classified category, but here is a link to the plan on another Ford Dealers website.

One of my questions: Both the Basic and Plus care cover the "oil pump". Does that specifically include or exclude the High Pressure Oil Pump? Post any other questions and I will ask.

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

I have the info Ford gave me in August or September. I was a bit dissapointed at what was covered on the list but better than nothing. My EGR failure would have cost as much as the warrantee. I'll try to dig it out.

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

I talked with J in Nov and learned that this is a new development where Ford is now cool with the SMB mod's and so our rigs can be covered by an extended warranty.
I for one am glad to have that 200k coverage!

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

I talked to Ford last week. It sounds like all the FORD stuff will be covered with no problems. I think we will pull the trigger if it keeps sounding good and the mileage to year ratio works out.

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

I have a Ford bumper to bumper (PremiumCare) extended warranty and it only covers the parts on the original order. No aftermarket installed parts (xfer case, front axle, etc.) are covered. It may cover those parts on a Quigley conversion if the van was ordered that way.

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

I've talked to over a dozen different Ford dealerships and even purchased two different Ford extended warranties (got full refunds) and in the fine print it stated that if the rig had been converted to 4x4 that the warranty was null and void. All I wanted was the stock Ford parts to be covered, but was told, and read, that nothing is covered if converted. The only one I could find is what SMB sent around and it's just coverage for the engine. Lotta bucks for another couple of years.
I'd sure like to find a Ford one that was "legal" to use.

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

Scatter,

Seems like about 2 years ago I heard Ford would no longer issue extended warranties for 4x4 vans. Fortunately, mine was in place already by then.

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

Ford had dropped a lot of extended warranty offerings a couple of years ago, but they have reversed course and are offering them again.
