50 Years of success!!!!!!!! What can we do to top that???!!! Oh, I know: "Let's stop manufacturing vans..." And they wonder why the American car manufacturers are in the toilet. Sort of like Volvo announcing the discontinuation of their station wagons. (And BMW 5-series station wagons as well)

I thought you were joking about the discontinuing of the wagons..... WOW that is a stupid move on Volvo and BMW. We have always had a wagon as one of our cars currently a 2009 XC70. Before that a 2004 XC70. Almost went with the Audi wagon this time instead but stuck with Volvo due to lower cost (bought a used 09 off lease with 20k).

We really do like our wagon!!!!! I guess since Ford bought Volvo they are deciding to discontinue them? Ford is making some dumb moves I think!!

Re: FORD’S E-SERIES VANS CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF SUCCESS

Ford just sold Volvo at about a 5 Billion dollar loss. I also have an Audi allroad which I love and my wife just ordered a BMW 3-series wagon before they decide to #*^! can those as well.

What I heard was that both BMW and volvo wanted to try to upgrade buyers into the X5,X3, XC90 etc. Apparently, both companies have much higher profit margins in the SUV-sized vehicles than the do in the wagons. Sounds brain-dead to me. Here on the Monterey Peninsula, just about half the cars you see seem to be Volvo, Mercedes, BMW, or Subaru wagons.

again information I did not know... Ford sold volvo to China for a 72% loss recently (Bought for 6.5 billion sold for 1.8 billion). Also Ford sold off land rover and jaguar to India......

what is the world coming too? No more Volvo's for us!! switching to Audi for sure.

Re: FORD’S E-SERIES VANS CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF SUCCESS

It will be interesting to see what Ford will name the replacement when they introduce the Transit. I also wonder how it will be accepted, this marketing thing has little to do with what goes on between the ears and more about how it makes people feel. If people think that the Sprinter is superiour, it could fail miserably. Maybe it will still be called an E Series. I'm sure the Transit is a capable vehicle although I doubt that North Americans will accept a 100HP sewing machine in a Cargo Van, no matter how many MPG it gets.

I still can't believe that Ford will give up the full size van market.....may be one of those rumors that has taken flight. Sounds counterintuitive (stupid) like something the gov't might be recommending. Stosh

Let me get out the crystal ball and take a look.
It's getting clearer...
The new Ford van line will be called the .... "T-Series".
You heard it here first.
