Group Buy: euro-style bench seat/bed

Anyone want in on these awesome looking rear bench seats that fold down to a bed?

https://www.campervan-hq.com/blogs/n...bench-seat-bed

With headrests, shoulder belts, etc. Unfortunately nothing like this is available in the US normally, but there's a group buy going in. If interested, get back to Greg by this Friday, July 15.

I would be curious to know if that could fit as a direct replacement for the standard SMB 50 bench seat.

Just a heads up, Iv'e showed interest in this but the correspondence has been minimal. I know the euro company was on holiday and the organizer is busy. Still hoping it works out as they seem amazing. Originally delivery date of mid october was talked about. Fingers crossed!

I'd use caution here. I am pretty sure the RB 50 bench seat hugs the passenger side wall and sits over the wheel well, which is about 9" high. Those seats have a base structure all the way over on that side and wouldn't go over the wheel well. 1500mm width won't fit between the wall and the cabinets. Check dimensions very carefully.

I have been scouring the net for seats like this and the only reasonable one I found is around 4000 bucks, Reimo I think it is, they have a distributor in California. Everything is European and made for VW T4 and T5 vans. I'd love to have a 3 seater with shoulder belts that can fit right over the wheel well. But for now, I think I am gonna stick with my 97 safari van fold forward and build a platform behind it.

Yes I looked at a VW camper closely when on a trip this summer and just about every mount on them is different than what we see in, for example, Ford vans.
