The original poster's question was, "How loud is diesel in Ford van?"

There is no way around the honest answer... or not.
Perhaps overly strong, I apologize for that. But the load of crap is for implying that you are somehow closer to the peace and quiet of nature in a gasser as opposed to a diesel. IMO, it doesn't make a difference. Whether one feels they are in nature in a group campground or out in the middle of nowhere. You're still in an RV.

No affiliation, but their kit apparently works.
Anybody else used the Quietride kit? You've got me entriqued. My three year old in the back and I have conversations that include a lot of "what?!" On my part.
On their website they have a complete engine kit for $450, wondering how much of a PITA that would be to install considering how little wiggle room there is in the engine bay already. Was thinking of the doghouse first to get a sense of how well it works but didnt see anything specifically for this application. I'll email them and see what other options they have.
Thanks for the review.

You're welcome, but just a note. I've been in several vans of different configurations and your conversations with anyone in the back are always going to include a lot of 'what'. It doesnt' matter whether gas or diesel. The layout of a van, with the front occupants inches from the engine and all the windows, tops, etc. just isn't going to be Lexus quiet.

Ledger told me the kit was pretty easy to install, you just pull your doghouse cover and add it.

Garage
I measured my sound levels today during a highway drive to the mountains.

80db on the flat and straight sections.
