How much are pop-tops worth on old vans?

There is a 1986 Ford E250 for sale ($4500) in So Cal. Is the top worth near $4500?

Good question, I'm curious how a top like this would be appropriately valued too.

(*Is it fair to guess -- this top's value would be somewhat less than most, simply because it is shaped to fit the roof of the older-generation Econoline, and thus might not work with a newer (1992-2014) Econoline.....? Or are the roof sections of the two generations of E-series vans similar enough for it to interchange/work just fine....?)

Used 1992-2014 tops have sold from $50 (Junkyard find/no canvas) to around $3K for a newer power top with most going for around $2K.

A 4th gen (1992-2014) Econoline used poptop is about $3000 on the used market. I sold mine to a friend for $2500, I've seen them go as high as $3500 in great condition.

So the short answer is no, a 1986 top is not worth $4500, I would expect that top alone, assuming good condition, would sell for more like $1500, maybe $2000.

Do Sportsmobile, Colorado Camper Van or others sell pop-tops separately without installation?

Sportsmobile, definitely not. CCV has sold a few as a DIY install, not sure if they make a habit of it.

I'm the sucker who paid $3400 for a powered SMB top off of what i think was a 2010 wrecked van.

My brother and I are going to try and get an older poptop on a newer van with a little work. After placing it on the van we think it is doable, our father thinks we are wasting our time haha.
