How much does your van weigh?

I took some scrap metal to the recycler yesterday. First they weigh the van loaded, then weigh it again after unloading. 300 pounds of steel got me $14.00

Now I know how much the van weighs. It weighs 6640 lbs with me and 5 gallons of gas. New vans on the lot weight about 4775 lbs. I've added around 1875 pounds. Not bad. That includes everything. I didn't empty it as if I was going to sell it. Probably 200 pounds of crap that flies all over the place when driving over large unanticipated bumps on dirt roads.

If you put 1900 pounds, almost a ton, in the back of a new van, you would feel it. SMBs weigh as much as 12,000 lb? Put 7500 pounds, almost 3 tons, in the back of a new van, tell me if you can feel it. Holy cow!

Ford rates the payload maximum for my 07 E350 Super Duty as 4000 lbs. Subtract the 600 lbs of load capacity that Quigley specifies. That's a payload max of 3400 pounds. And they mean 3400 lbs down low, not strapped to the roof.

Minerva says it's rude to ask a lady her weight. That being said Indiana told me fully loaded my v10 quigley tips the scales at 9600. But I think she's just big boned.

Re: How much does your van weigh?

I'm under 9000 lbs. with a RB, penthouse, SMB 4x4, PSD, 4 captains chairs + bench seat, small house battery. No built ins other than seat level storage. I'm not a class B, no 110, water, microwave, fridge etc.. Great for taking backpackers and gear to trail heads and primitive camping.
