Intro and my new (to me) SMB

Hi, I've been lurking on here a few weeks and asking questions here and there.

I wanted to thank Jage for his help!

I picked up a 2002 EB50 V10 SMB Quigley 4x4 from Michigan last week and drove it home. It is great!

A few things to fix, the biggest one being a rusted out Road Armor front bumper, and need to get a Class IV hitch at the back, so removing the Reunel rear bumper/hitch and hopefully getting Aluminess at both ends and a Drawtite hitch. Also the Starcool is inop. Rear spring shackles need replacing (rust). Cracked the windshield with a small rock on the trip home.

The prior owner just had Quigley spend about 3 days on the van making the front end right, new HD Bilsteins all around, new torque arms, bushes, U joints etc. Nice guy as well.... well definitely keep in touch with him and his wife. The SMB drives like a dream!

I tow a rally car, and also camp/prospect/astrophotography so needed something that had a lot of cargo space yet was capable offroad, comfortable to sleep in, and great towing capacity.

Specs:
- elec PH photo edition w/ bed
- deluxe roof vent fant
- EB50, leather couch and front seats
- 16 (20?) gal fresh water
- ext shower
- furnace & water heater
- 4 cuft refrig
- new propane tank and front end refresh
- big AGM batt, recently replaced
- XL storage (a little rusty on one side)
- yakima racks (maybe will do the hanging down solar panels if I can figure out how to clear the roof vent)

It replaces a 99 V10 2WD E350 cargo van, which I'll be selling.

Of course, I got it dirty on the trip home to Washington state.

Any chance you will be entering the Mendocino Rally this August? I (along with a lot of local Hams) will be handling communications for the rally.

I live in King County near Sammamish/Fall City.

I won't be at Menodino, I stick mainly to WA,OR and BC.
I am a ham too since 1978, VK4KUX. Need to put a 2m rig in the van too.

If you are interested in astronomy, here is where I will be last week of July http://www.tmspa.com

Fantastic. Looks nice. What do you think is wrong with the Starcool?

BTW that's a killer SP. I belong to Peninsula Astronomical Society and we put on a small outing every year on Glacier Point in Yosemite. Several groups are there between memorial and labor day and most will let you join in if you ask. Glacier Point has some fantastic skies and the valley air flow usually will steady the air so if you're ever down here give me a buzz.

Nice!

On the Starcool, which is actually a Danhard. Something about the freon lines being disconnected by the Ford dealer to "fix" the van AC. I haven't looked into it yet.

Half Aussie, half Kiwi. My grandfather was an ANZAC in NZ army in France in WWI.
