Drizzt your not nuts, your a true average van user. hogasm your my new van "idol".
I had a mechanic tell me when I 1st took delivery of my 7.3 2003 in Fresno the only thing that can hurt that motor is not changing the oil. I have been very diligent about maintenance.
"I'M GOING OUT THE PROVERBIAL SMB LIMB" That most true van owners take pretty good care of their vans. We don't want to have any issues while traveling.
The 5 military "P's"
"proper maintenance prevents piss poor performance"
As I'm planning a winter adventure....any suggestion for the desert southwest?

Drizzt,
I just turned 300,000 in April.....knock on wood the 7.3 hums like a lion.
Leaving Tuesday for Green River (Dutch John) Utah. I'm passed by everyone as I cruise in the 60 to 65 mph sometimes even 70 mph...lol. Checked mileage for something to do. 1st tank going north Generally on I-15N) I did 16 mpg returning south it was 17 mpg. I did almost 700 miles on that tank (I have 46 gal. tank).
