Mounting Spare Tire on front of 1997 E250 SuperDuty

245/75 spare tire hangs too low in rear. Advice needed on whether to have tire mounted in front, how to do it, and any options for moving tire up in rear.

Re: Mounting Spare Tire on front of 1997 E250 SuperDuty

Is the tire seated up on the carrier all the way?

My hitch would always touch before my tire would. I did end up going to a rear tire carrier though, and upgrading to an integrated-hitch-bumper to increase hitch clearance.

If you put the tire up front, watch your transmission temps initially. When I installed my Buckstop and light-array up front, if blocked all the air to the trans cooler so I had to put in a larger cooler to compensate. A good way to mount one up front is installing a hitch receiver (great for a recovery point and also moving trailers in tight places) and a simple hitch-mount tire carrier.

That sounds like the stock tire size. It should fit up in the carrier nicely.

A photo or two would help.
