N FAB Nerf bars - steps

Finding the standard nerf bars just a trifle too difficult to use. The foot hold is small and too close to the van body. Anybody check out the N FAB Nerf bar steps? Wondered if anyone is using these and if they will give me a little more step to get out of the van. Getting in is no problem, its stepping out that is difficult.

Anybody?

I did not see one listed for the econoline. I would like to find one like that, but want it to mount to the frame and not the body?

Aluminess has an awesome set. If we did not get our Powerstep, we would have gone Aluminess.

Re: N FAB Nerf bars - steps

According to our local custom truck shop, N-Fab will custom make the bars to fit the SMB. I heard the custom truck rep talking to the NFab rep and she said her father had an SMB and they made bars specifically for the van.

BTW - the local custom truck guy had never seen a SMB before and he was very impressed with the Sportsmobile 4x4 conversion.

I will check out Aluminess's nerf bar. It looks promising and I am familiar with them. Tell me more about your power step.

Be sure to ask how far down the steps will hang. I can't tell from the pics if the steps stick straight out, or stick down and out.

Very nice looking though.

Here is a link on our AMP Powerstep. We opted for this option for our 3y/o daughter. We wanted something that our daughter and my wife to have the ease of getting in and out of our rig with out having to worry about the thing getting ripped out on a trail. The AMP step is only on the passenger side, I have the good old hoop step on mine.

Oh, and the last link, made me chuckle because I now have AdventureDuo's van and he posted two pics on the first page of that thread. Course it has bigger tires and wheels on it (AdventureDuo made those mods). But you can see that the current nerf bar sits away from the body a bit to accommodate the propane door.

What do you have on their now?
I've been looking on replacing mine, and was looking at waag, since they seem to be the only people making basic tube steps without any bits hanging down, but I can't tell if they are chassis or body mounted.

On the web site, it states ext diesel. So that makes me think they are frame mounted, (good), but I have a diesel, (bad).

If you want an AMP Powerstep that is customized as a kit for the Ford Van, here is a link. FYI, when I called Amp Research, they gave me this guy's number. This is a third party. I will be ordering one for my van. I'll try to post my thoughts on the ease of installation if I get a chance.
