They did sell me the fabric for $800 - for self install. But it didn't seem like they really wanted to.

In regards to the canvas replacement, anyone in CA know someone in the sail business? If you took your old penthouse canvas off and gave it to a sail shop couldn't they use it as a template? Have no idea if it would be cheaper.

I think a car upholstery shop that does convertible tops would be a good alternative too.

we have a place here that does all kinds of random work like this, but thier main business is spa cover repairs and replacements. cant hurt to try the little ma and pa stores like that. they generally cater to a wide varity of jobs just to help keep thier doors open.

ive had them repair zippers on tents and have a buddy who has had them make custom light covers/protective bags for his LED projects. i even had them make me custom coilover boots way back when. they have proven to be very helpful in many aspects. good luck with your search
