My heater quiet blowing hot air this morning and I noticed that it is leaking water from the engine compartment on the passenger side but I can't pin point where it's coming from. Does sound like a bad thermostat? Would love some help heading to Mt St. Helens in a few days. Thanks every one
I have a 1998 E350 rb quigley
Bad T-stat usually doesn't cause a leak. Likely it's a bad hose, but you can also lost the heater hose fittings, on the engine side of the fire wall. Napa keeps those fittings in stock (other parts stores only stock 5/8" but the heater core is 5/8" in 3/4" out).
Also - the heater hose coming off the intake manifold usually fails first because it gets the most heat.
My heater core went out on my 1993 and those were the symptoms. Hopefully its a hose or fitting. The heater core install with all new hoses was $500, so that would be worst case scenario.
The leak seems to be coming some where by the battery getting drips fwd of the passenger side tire and dripping by the steering stabilizer let it ran for awhile and the heat kicked on and the leaks are less. Thanks for the recommendation
Not sure had my front end redone ball joints tie rods etc and had the front wheel bearings re packed. Another thing happened when I drove it today my brake pedal was super hard when I was gonna stop I had to put a a lot of force on it to stop thank goodness no one was in front off me then it went back to normal and has been fine since on the drive home. When it rains it pours I guess
