We decided to move the mounts and work with a local welder to do it and not replace the leafs and shock. Your comments are extremely helpful - thank you!
Cool beans. You can always replace the springs and shock later. At least in my application with the Bilsteins ttere's a lot of leeway with the length of the shock body. Having a shock that is mostly if not more that 75% compressed for 90% of the travel and that may bottom out before springs hit the bump stop doesn't make that much sense to me.

Glad to see you are back on the road. We crossed paths (at about 65mph) on or about Sun 12/29 on hwy 1. We northbound in silver Quigley with trailer. You rolling south. We stayed on same beach in Concepcion, Bahia-LA and Ganzaga. Great spots! And we too loved quaint Loreto.
