overhead bed

Just a question i can't seem to find answer to in search. there have been many references to overhead beds in regards to space over the bed. however i can't seem to find any references to how high is bed from van floor. I would guess somewhere around 52 inches? also to people who sleep under the overhead bed. how much space do they normally have.

Re: overhead bed

The bottom of our PH bed is from 50"- 52" above the floor. The roofline of the van tapers to rear, so the smaller number is at the rear.

Our rear dinette/bed has the top of the cushions at 18" above the floor. That may vary with design and what space is needed under the cushions. We have 32" between the cushion and the bottom of the PH bed, enough to sit up in bed.

Re: overhead bed

On the Chev. the roof is crowned. The bed of course is flat. I figure I lost about 1" of head room along the center line of the van. Setting on the side benches not really any difference. Setting in our bathroom jump seat that is close to the center line my head does just contact the bottom of the bed. On the other hand when the roof is up or the bed is taken out of the van you have much more head room.
