Good advise - I actually place them in all 4 corners immediately after I raise the top...for stability and to take the long term stress off the bars. Admittedly I also do it as a precaution just an case one decides to give out - little worried about about the possibility of the roof collapsing.
All types of solutions out there, I made mine from 2" wood dowel, wrapped with black duck tape, and placed rubber feet at each end - went a step farther and screwed a closet dowel support to the top so they would not slip out of place
