REMOVE FORUM MAGNETS IMMEDIATELY!

It's with a heavy heart that I say the forum magnets need to be removed from all vehicles. Following the manufacturers guidelines DOES NOT PREVENT DAMAGE.

It has come to my attention that Residue is left in less than a weeks time. If the magnets are left beyond that the structure breaks down as it adheres to the vehicles. I spent a year searching for the right manufacturer, and they let me down. I will be contacting them but please:

REMOVE ALL MAGNETS FROM VEHICLES!

All of my vehicles have been damaged- the Sportsmobile least as I only put the magnets on one week ago. My apologies to all members for the trouble and especially to anyone who has had a magnet placed on their vehicle.

Re: REMOVE FORUM MAGNETS IMMEDIATELY!

Wow, never expected that. Of course, you didn't either.

I hope there is no damage to the paint when you finally get the residue off.

A local sign shop supplied me with similar magnetic material that I left installed on my motorcycles for years without damage or transfer. In fact, it is still in use under a tank bag to prevent paint damage. So, I am really shocked to see what happened to your Jeep and van.

How would you know? I was gonna put a metel plate on my Aluminess box using silicon or something like that to stick em to but never got round to it. Still the magnets were a cool idea. Maybe stickers or even cards? I know it doesn't serve the same purpose but it's something. Sorry to hear it didn't work out.

Re: REMOVE FORUM MAGNETS IMMEDIATELY!

Thats too bad Jage as I am sure you spent a lot of time and money trying to get them right for us...

Why is it things like magnets have to vary so much in quality these days?

Like Mike I have had some magnets in the past from a sign company that held great and lasted well, you could hardly get them off. These ones seemed to be a bit weak right from the start but I never would have thought they would do what happened to that yellow vehicle...that sucks...

I really like the QR idea....

Thanks for trying it is definitely not your fault they sold you junk...

Re: REMOVE FORUM MAGNETS IMMEDIATELY!

Hey I just went out and checked my van and the magnet is absolutely perfect like brand new still..

It has been on there outside everyday in the Northern California Sun since the day I got it and there is No/Zero damage to anything...Its all perfect... I cover the van sometimes but not much the past four months as we have been using it a lot and its a pain to cover...

Maybe its a heat or high altitude thing up in Colorado where you are, or something is making them fall apart some kind of cleaner or soap you are using?

Its been cooler here this summer than normal, I don't think its been over 90 or 95 since I put it on but it is still very sunny on the van all of the time and it is perfect...

Maybe only some of them are bad? Do you think that is possible? A bad batch of magnets?

I just thought you should know...

...Jamie

REMOVE FORUM MAGNETS IMMEDIATELY!

Like Jamie, mine has been on since it came. Just checked it and it is fine. It was in the 90's for several weeks in August and it does not seem to have affected it.

Thank you Jage for making them. I like the idea and will leave it on.

Re: REMOVE FORUM MAGNETS IMMEDIATELY!

Wow, how horrible. Quite a lot of damage. Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, one never knows the impact of some things until they try them. Hopefully your warning has gotten to people in time to keep the same thing from happening to their vehicles.

Bummer, but you couldn't have known. Very cool idea. If you make some stickers I would put on one.

Re: REMOVE FORUM MAGNETS IMMEDIATELY!

It sounds like some of the material is good, some is not. Maybe they got some stock from a Chinese supplier to save money?

Mine are fine. Been in one place since I got them and no transfer, no problems.

Since at least one other person has had problems, you are right to alert everyone about it.
