Replace penthouse with a fixed top, am I crazy?

I’m considering removing my smb penthouse and replacing with a Fiberine super camper fixed top. With a family of 5 and a dog, the shuffling of gear gets tedious and when we get caught in windy desert nights, we have to bring down the pop top down and share one bed. Am I crazy for even considering this? Can I sell a used penthouse? Any input appreciated

I am debating the same thing. But in the PNW worried about total height because of so many low trees.

I debated pop-top or hightop for a few years... I finally ordered my 24" Fiberine top last week. 3-4 weeks out from order time.

I worried about being over 9' tall but PNW weather isn't very pop-top friendly. High Roof Sprinter is almost 9' off the lot. Overhead storage is also a big plus for the fixed top.

Another PNW guy here wishing the same thing.
Have only been on one trail where a high top would have prevented us from continuing without a lot of sawing/low hanging tree removal.

Easily solved by carrying along a chainsaw. A winch will work too. Having both is even better. Look in to the newer cordless chainsaws. You need one for firewood anyway. I have one that now goes on all my adventures. No smell, no gas, plenty more juice for cutting than you would imagine.

Where in the PNW are you? Wonder if we can ship two together and split the shipping cost? Let me know if your are willing to entertain that thought.

I had a pop top on my last van and now I have a fixed top. I'd never go back to a pop top now.

I'm down in Des Moines and considered self install but decided to let them do it. Install is a one day event and I don't have a covered work area. Excited AF to get this lid on, been stacking interior parts for over a year!
