My guess is they will abandon this project. There's enough demand for Sprinter/Transit vans to keep them in business for a long time.

Alan told me that they already have several orders for the Sportsmobile Classic. They are putting some finishing touches on the second prototype. He also mentioned that they currently have a 15 month backlog, so yes, the Sprinter/Transit business is not waning. Ford is rumored to have said the cutaway E-series will be built "until the end of the decade", so don't wait too long.

Sorry for making a new thread. I looked, I swear.

A wider body with a 6 speed makes this very appealing. It counters the two most appealing things about the transit. Fuel economy and space.

I like the zombie resistance of econoline but of course it's a bit overkill most of the time. But that transit with it's skateboard wheels looks like a pothole could murder it.

Yippie! Looks like the doom van will be too young then but life's weird like that. Who knows.

Has Ford said what the cutaway will be replaced with? Some transit type cutaway thing?
