Re: SMB-W Nissan Van 4x4 Camper Conversion Coming??

thanks for sharing those links Witoke. Very cool.
I like checking out the floor plans and pics to get design ideas.
Man, I'm not getting any work done today.

I'm looking forward to seeing these. I wonder if they'll do a 4x4 Conversion?

Re: SMB-W Nissan Van 4x4 Camper Conversion Coming??

Hmm, I look at the hood length and wheelbase on that thing and think that they might as well convert Chevy Suburbans or Ford Excursions into Sportsmobiles. It seems to me that Nissan have designed a vehicle that successfully avoids all the benefits of a van: ie. shorter wheelbase, short hood, forward seating position with good visibility etc. I thought they stopped making vans like that back in 1949 with the last of the Suburban 2-door models.

Whatever made them think some of these Nissans wouldn't work in the USA?

Hell, the Nissan Primastar was even designed and built in collaboration with GM and ahem, gets around 30 US mpg in the combined cycle

Here's another link that may be of interest, just to show what we could be getting instead of the overgrown station wagon Nissan is proposing to bring in. And SMB, please note that the rear seat/bed has 3 properly rated shoulder belts....

Ah, there's nothing quite like a polite, relevant and well argued opinion. It's part of what makes public forums so useful.

Is it me, or did that thing fall from the ugly tree and land on its face?

Re: SMB-W Nissan Van 4x4 Camper Conversion Coming??

I wasn't too thrilled with the 08 Ford grill at first but it did grow on me. After adding the Aluminess bumper it seemed to make a huge difference in looks. I'll wait and comment after I see one of these new vehicles lifted with different bumpers and tires on it.
