Spooky electronic door locks

This is going to sound strange but it was really weird. We were camped on the Oregon Coast over the weekend in driving rain. Everything was soaked.
We were plugged in to the Oregon state park's shore power. My wife was on her Smartphone, which was plugged into the shore-power outlet in the Sportsmobile.
She was typing on the phone when the electronic door locks on our 2004 Ford 350 Sportsmobile started locking and unlocking continuously. Then they quit. The locks wouldn't work from then on out.
A day later when things dried out, the electronic locks started working again.
Was it moisture? Or the Smartphone?
Anybody else experience this in a Ford Van?

its the switch on the backdoor that has water in it. I know because I had to disconnect that switch to fix the same problem

Thanks for the info. Things have dried out but the problem may occur again in the next rainstorm.

Re: Spooky electronic door locks

Was there anything against the back door?

I've had that happen a few times from luggage shifting around and pressing on the rear power lock switch.

Re: Spooky electronic door locks

My locks did that, and it was the VSM (Vehicle Security Module). That module gets the signal from the remote and locks/unlocks the doors.

It can be unnerving when the doors unlock at 2 am in a remote campsite. And when you can't trust your doors will stay locked when you leave the van unattended.

When ours started acting up I first removed Fuse 2.10 to disable the remote capability and used the key for access. This fuse may also disable the DRL's and the HiBeam dash light. Later I changed the VSM (behind passenger kick panel). The module comes with a note 'Programming required', but the only programming needed is to resync the remotes.

Re: Spooky electronic door locks

A couple weeks ago I had the same thing happen in the morning after a lot of internal condensation started dripping down the windows and into the doors. It stopped after everything warmed up/dried out and everything is back to normal. Thanks for the post and advice from all.
