The Most Delicate Accessory

Hey word to the wise on the Porta Potti. Part of the standard regimen is now to pull the handle while the lid is down before using.

Apparently the seal is tight enough that heat or altitude or some combination of those and driving for several hours can build up decent enough pressure that you can have some blowout, especially if there is a little extra water in the bottom of the bowl...

Porta potti blowout

Hahahahahahaha!

Most of us learn this one way or another!

When we were in New Mexico, we went from about 4,000-5,000 feet up to about 10,000 feet. By the time we got there, the porta potti was actually bulged out at the bottom. I knew what was gonna happen when I pulled that handle. Phew!

I made sure to crack it open again when we descended, although that time the air went the other way.

Garage
I am now thoroughly convinced that my decision to forego that personal pleasure and use the trusty shovel is withstanding.
