Thoughts on extended warranty for Sprinter

What’s the knowledge out there on the new Sprinters and their warranty options.
We are at 33k on our 2016 4x4. 3 yr 36K bumper to bumper is standard. What is the opinions on Mercedes extended warrenties or are their other better ones out there. I know some think not needed or worth it but after our disaster with the 6.0 liter Ford diesel we are thinking it may be the way to go. Appreciate all input and we have to get on it soon. Thanks, now

The only anecdotal evidence I have for its necessity is my friend who is a plumber spent $18k on repairs before he sold his. In one year. It had nearly 100k miles on it though.
