Asking for an aunt and uncle, they just got an 99 e150 with only 9,000 original miles! What is the largest tire they can install on stock ride? I have 265/75/16 and I don't have any problems rubbing. But I don't want to give them bad advice!
I'd bet dollars to donuts that that e150 is sporting' 15's.
Stock rims would do best with stock tires.
Wider rims can be used but one must be careful if the side door is a slider.
Wider tires on stock rims defeats the sidewall engineering.
Stock tires on wider rims defeats the sidewall engineering.
Taller tires can be used but one must be careful about gearing.

The 1999 E150's were "true E150's" in that the frame and springs were lighter duty than E250's and above OR the later E150's which were just E250's in disguise.
Sticking with the stock tire size as shown on the door tag is the best advice so far. With only 9K miles on a 20 year old van says they don't really need anything special in tires.
Fantastic guys. That is why I held my opinion jwa. Thanks for the quick responses. Hoping to get them to join here. They plan to build out the interior some and travel. It was an old crime scene van from what I understand.
I had had a 98 E150 Club Wagon for a few years. There are plenty of tire choices in the XL load rating. No harm no foul if they want to step up to an LT in the 110 and up load .
One more thought then I’ll stop. It’d be cheap insurance if they spring for five new tires. Just sayin

OE tire size should be 235/75-15XL. Be sure to get the XL rated tire if any sort of loaded driving or towing may happen. That said, in my ignorance I got away with P235 (passenger car) tires on my old 1990 E150 conversion van for many years. The P-tires have fewer belts and will generally ride a bit smoother and are usually cheaper. And I agree with the above comment the spare should match.
