http://www.sportsmobile.com/4_transformer.html

Seems like the pictures are gone though. The pricing is from 2005 also.

FYI, I found this like by using google with the site: option. Very handy thing to know. Just search for "transformer site:www.sportsmobile.com" and you will find the links.

My guess would be that they realized that by promoting a less expensive alternative to their more complete setup that they lost out on revenue. All the parts of a transformer system seem to be available as part of a custom design-your-own rig so they will apparently still make them. Just use the dyo pricing as a guide instead of the outdated page.

Using the infitite memory and never forget nature of the interwebythingy I have found sportsmobiles original transformer pdf document. Perhaps of interest to many others. Since this is no longer available directly from sportsmobiles website, use this for entertainment purposes only.

I could be wrong, but I remember Alan telling me that starting in 07, the diesel and V10 were no longer an option in the E350 Chateau (van with windows) . I believe Ford only offers them in the 5.4L V8. SMB won't convert a V8 van to 4x4.

As far as I know, all engine options are still available from Ford, but the Chateau package isn't availble anymore (since 2007?).

Chateau was the top of the line Trim package on the passenger vans.

I imagine SMB will build a Transformer if you ask them to. They allow you to customize your rig just about any way you want it.

I think a lot of the Transformers were based on the Chateau interior package (which included 4 captain's chairs, a rear bench, and all creature feature options offered - dual AC, PW, PDL, cruise, power mirrors). Our 1995 Chateau came with a cool bench seat that folded flat into a comfy bed. Ford stopped that a few years later for cost reasons. I read that the Chateau package died because they were selling way more Expeditions.

According to the MSN autos, you can order the V-10 in an 2009 E-350 Econoline wagon (the passenger version with windows), but not the diesel. To get the diesel you have to order the E-350 Econoline van (no windows).

We bought ours from a van conversion place and they ordered an upfitter package that was an empty van interior with front seat bases only. We could have had the V-10 or the diesel. Windows all around in privacy glass was an $650 option.

I think it would be cool to build a transformer style with a galley that you could remove- have a big 12v plug for power and clamps around the base, a fitted drain for graywater and you could pull the whole cabinet as one piece if necessary to get the entire van back.

You design it, SMB will be happy to build it.
