Two Aluminess boxes?

Has anyone run two aluminess boxes on the back of an E350? I am considering moving my spare to the roof and adding another box. I have yet to use my spare (knock on wood) but use the other box extensively and would like the extra storage.

The plan would be to add an aluminess roof rack, move the spare up there and then add another deluxe box. It would be a pricey move but that added outside-the-van storage might make it worth while.

Anyone done this?

I have seen several vans do this. I was going to do it, but opted for the deluxe box on one side and tire carrier on the other. Wheel is a lot of weight to throw up top on the penthouse.

Yeah, that is my primary concern. Can't think of where else to put it though . . . .

I will dig up some pics that are in the gallery archives. There are some of double boxes (1 atop another) and dual boxes (side by side). There are also pics of exotic racks, bike carriers, etc. on top of boxes. Also pics of doors that open sideways and drop downs that serve as shelves for grills.

You can run a front hitch and get a hitch mounted spare carrier. I've seen a couple on this forum. Otherwise, I don't think a pop top would work well with a spare on top.

Garage
what size are your tires? I had a 285/75/16 under the van in the stocker spare location. I think getting anything bigger than that might require getting really creative though.

Do you already have a rear underfloor storage box? If not, I'd seriously look into that before trying to relocate the spare tire, etc. You can fit a LOT under there, and it's pretty easy to access (at least in my van).

Is there more space in stock spare location on the EB compared to the RB?
