Re: Van Envy. Does it ever end?

No van envy here - we built what we wanted and use it accordingly. I save my envy and endless trading for motorcycles.

Besides van envy your power plant mods are confusing. You already had the BPD external oil cooler so why are you installing the oil cooler delete manifold block? My impression is that this puppy is a performance item that allows more hot-rodding options like adding two turbos. How far away from stock are you planning to modify your 6.0? Are you building your own oil filter system?

I don't have van envy, but I do have space envy.

Re: Van Envy. Does it ever end?

Van envy? Not really. Every couple weeks I walk past my neighbor's homebuilt 4x4 E350 and wish my bench seat were as close to the front seats as his, but then I just go enjoy my van.

Time envy (of anyone posting trip reports)? Yes. Daily.

Re: Van Envy. Does it ever end?

im envyous of some of the home buildouts and the quality of thier builds, but most dont utilize layouts that would be beneficial for my wife and i, and luckily, ive never seen any of the other local smb's out and about, so im not constantly reminded of how unaccessorized our van is like some of you in the more populated areas. so overall no, not much envy here. we are still pretty dang stoked on our unfinished setup for now

id say im more envyous of the amount of cash some of the members have to throw at thier rigs, than the rigs themselves. not that theres anything wrong with thier vans or that they have that much tied up in the rigs. just long to be able to advance our build more rapidly.

however, i am most definitely 100% more envyous of members like claude that spend everyday in their van rolling around the nation seeing all the wonderful places we have to see. some of you on this forum are just plain doing it right. props to all that have it figured out and i hope we can follow in your tire tracks someday

Re: Van Envy. Does it ever end?

I have more of a wishlist problem than van envy. We have poured every dollar and many hundreds of hours into making our van the way we want it to be... and the list continues. I've never seen a van, live or on the forum, that I would straight-up trade ours for, but I see ideas and mods that I want to apply all the time. We get to use the van often and vigorously, but I do experience a bit of "trip envy"

Next year... replace the top to get fresh canvas and windows, and bigger solar panels... oh yeah and a full rack... and offroad lighting on the cab roof... and a cool '70s style moonvisor... and the year after that, maybe a Ray's Hell custom front bumper and and and...

+1

Love my van, just have lots of stuff I want it to have! At Leavitt Lake I was joking the improvement/addition list now has 843 things on it.

Those two things are not mutually exclusive. Usually my list grows longer every time I see somebody else's van
