Van Envy. Does it ever end?
6 months in my rig and I'm already thinking about a newer/bigger/better van. I know it's a me issue but any others experience this? It doesn't help that there are several SMB owners in my town many of whom have nicer outfits.

Re: Van Envy. Does it ever end?
I'm constantly battling van envy, but because I can't afford a newer/4x4 rig with all the goodies, I appreciate the fact that I have one and get to enjoy it.
I do have a problem with keeping cars though and it seems 1 year is about the max I go before switching them out!

Re: Van Envy. Does it ever end?
Van Envy depends a lot on your power plant, for some us it is trumped and thwarted by severe Diesel Regret. This is my engine last Friday... a good shot of the Bullet Proof Diesel Manifold Block for the Oil Cooler replacement for those interested.

Well for me a bullet proof 6.0 is engine envy.

Re: Van Envy. Does it ever end?
As long as you're using your van you are better off then most. I've had my brand new 4x4 a year & a half and haven't been out in it yet outside of some snowboard trips. Life & work have really gotten in the way so I have very little time right now. Only have 2,000 miles on the odometer.
Don't envy other peoples vans, pity those who have nice vans but don't use them the way they should...like me.

Re: Van Envy. Does it ever end?
No it never ends. Especially when you see Twolost's rig sitting next to yours.

Re: Van Envy. Does it ever end?
"Thou shalt not covet." I violate this commandment a lot when it comes to seeing other people's Sportsmobiles. I also have trip envy when I see where they go in their rigs. I have lift envy when my rig is next to Daveb's van. They say size doesn't matter, but . . . . I have gas mileage envy when I see what other people get compared to my 2002 gaser. I have 4X4 envy when I see roads I can't go on in by two-wheel drive SMB. I have a lot of van envy! But then I see how people who don't have a Sportsmobile envy my van and I feel much better. Much prouder. Dang! Pride is a sin too. I think my Sportsmobile is going to keep me out of heaven. But then again, I've driven to some heavenly places in my van.

Do not overrate what you have, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.
