What to put under vinyl floor for cushioning

Just got around to putting in my 1piece vinyl flooring from front to back and after kneeling on the vinyl on top of the plywood I was wondering what I could put between the vinyl and the plywood that will coushion the floor a bit to make it easier on the knees. Has anyone ever did that before? Would a foam work best or rubber? Maybe a neoprene type material? Maybe even just a carpet base like Ford applies to their factory vinyl flooring?

Thanks for all the help

Water ever you use make sure it won't absorb moisture /water or you're looking at rust shortly.
