Very good--isn't that special? At least I'm now as cool as Eric Badger--which is pretty damn cool IMO.

I was headed to the Overland Expo, but since I hate I-15 I thought it would be fun to leave early and drive down 93 through Nevada. I love the Ruby mountains, so I spent a couple days exploring. Coming down from Indian Creek, which is a few miles of mild Jeep trail, I heard a clanking--broken LF spring plate/shock mount.
I spent a few minutes removing the shock and checking the U bolts, found a flat place to camp and assess. This plate kinda holds, like, some of the front end together, so driving concerned me. Plus I was out there. The next day I drove slowly into Eureka, NV, checking the front end constantly, and found a guy to weld the bracket. Took all day. The spring pack never budged BTW.
It had obviously been cracked a while as there was rust on some of the broken area. Terrible design as it breaks right where it's bent. It looks like they weld a small buttress in there now, but I may look into making my own that are fully welded.
