Where do you store your Hi-Lift Jacks?

I don't have Trojan bumpers on my Van, and don't have any place inside to keep it. Any ideas?

RB50 floorplan. I stick the jack in from the back doors long-ways under the bed. It fits between the inboard closet wall and the basement hatch. The bottom plate of the jack hooks around the aft edge of the closet wall.

I don't like having the jack inside, but I've had bigger issues to rectify lately...

In the garage. Actually I have two in there. Not my favorite tool, too heavy, to dangerous and not that good of a jack.

BajaSportsmobile, what do you carry for a jack? The screw jack that came with The Van is pretty lightweight to get the wheel far enough off the ground to change the tire, and my hydraulic jackstand is too tall to get under the axle with a dead flat tire.

I recently purchased a couple of HUMMER H1 HUMVEE M998 HMMWV SCISSORS JACK rated at 3.5 Tons and they lift to over 20 inches. I also made an extension that goes on top for additional reach. I'm thinking these might just be the best solution for my SMB and am looking forward to testing them out.

I welded nuts on them so that I can operate them with my Cordless Impact Gun - very fast!

I'll try to get some pictures of them in action.

The base on my hi-lift fits into it (note it's a custom foot on my hi-lift) as well as a scissors lift giving the scissors lift enough height and a much wider footprint. If you are interested I could check the fit with a standard hi-lift foot.

I keep mine on the top of my front Aluminess bumper (see photo). Not a great place for it. It rattles a lot. But people seem to think it looks cool. I'm thinking of taking it off however. A recent flat tire experience made me rethink the usefulness of the Hi-Lift Jack. I bought a 6-ton bottle jack instead. I store it in the storage area of my Aluminess bumper.

I just welded some bar onto a 2" square tube and stick that into my front receiver, and then used U-bolts to clamp it on.

Makes a good bumper. But I agree with BajaSportsmobile; they aren't so helpful for us, and super dangerous. I also went with scissor jacks; got two rated for 6k+lbs each at Amazon for less than $75. Low profile, so you can get then under an axle if you don't have much clearance. Kind of a bear to get started when you're using them dead flat though. And I like the little telescoping jack that came with the van; easy to use and it'll lift one of my corners.

I keep thinking the next time I come upon someone in a small vehicle that could use my Hi Lift I'll sell it on the spot for a six pack. One of these days.
