Other than the smb sites, are there any other particularly good placed to look for used smb's? Thanks.

Found mine on either Cars.com or AutoTrader.com
Never saw many there, but I jumped on the one I did see.

eBay (bought a jeep this way and sold 2 others) and Craigslist.

But SMB West will put you in touch with the sellers and you can negotiate of course. Bought my SMB this way.

SMB West for ours. Lynn was super helpful in getting more info etc...was able to still negotiate a little w/ the owner. I did miss out on another van that i found on Craigslist, crazedlist.org was super helpful in that search.

whatever you do, be prepared to act pretty darn quick. Definitely have most of your finances in line and be prepared to hop on a plane and be ready to bail if it is not what the pictures lead you to believe.

I lucked out after I missed out last minute on a SMB in soCal, one appeared on the SMB site 15 miles away a week or so later that had all i was looking for.

good luck

Yes I was not as willing to bail as I should have been. My negotiations went on so long that my arrival to pick up the van butted up against when I wanted to start using the van, it quickly became my last opportunity to buy all summer. If I'd left myself more wiggle room I would have had a better opportunity to negotiate- well maybe. Still, love the van I have despite all the problems I can't imagine having not bought it or having bought a different one.

First found on EBay. Got ahold of the orig owner (it had been repo'd) and got the full skinny (including info on new trans). When didn't sell on EBay (RV dealer that bought at auction from finance company), then the research and negotiations really began. Not perfect and I've been throwing a lot of $ at it, but when the dust settles I'll still be way out in front.
