XL Storage Compartment

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone here has interior dimensions for the XL Storage Compartment they install underneath the RB van? I can't seem to get this info from SMB. Thanks!

David

Just went out and measured mine.

32in. Wide, 21in. Fore & Aft, 16in. Deep, plus there is a shelf on the top front end that is 5in. High, and 4 1/2in. wide from front to back. In other words the top of the compartment in front gets longer (front to back) after it gets above the diff.
Hope this helps.

Bill

Re: XL Storage Compartment

Thanks Bill! So does this compartment have flat sides inside like a regular box, or is it curved?

This is a big help.

Re: XL Storage Compartment

Not curved. Mostly flat, but there's a "step" on the front wall, as you can see here:

Re: XL Storage Compartment

So do you guys usually put a floor jack here or somewhere else?

Re: XL Storage Compartment

Mine doesn't have the forward step in the front wall, an RB thing maybe?

The back, lets say 1/3 of the floor slopes up, but otherwise mine is a regular box. There is also a drain spigot in the center bottom of the floor, which is a drag because it's right in the way and sticks up.

Gives me a thread idea for tomorrow...

My stock jack is in there under all that stuff, along with a Tirfor/Griphoist hand winch & cable, and various pipes and saws.

Re: XL Storage Compartment

One more question for you. How large is the opening to the compartment? It looks somewhat smaller than the box itself, which I'm hoping is not smaller than 20 in. across.

Thanks a bunch!

Jage is correct as to the slope of the floor. I checked mine out again and from approximately half the floor dimension fore and aft to the rear wall, it slopes up about 4 in. (To about 12 in. deep at the rear. The inner dimensions of the access hole, including the lip are: 17 3/4 fore and aft, and 20 3/4 side to side. The trap door is about 2 in. bigger both ways as it sits on the lip.

Re: XL Storage Compartment

Interesting yours has a lock, mine doesn't. It slopes as well with no step and we have a EB.
