Kids and an SMB

Here in VA, there aren't too many SMBs....

I went to my friend's house today so his wife could see the SMB. I parked at the curb and put the top up. We were inside talking, and a little boy and girl, about 8, came by on their bikes.

The boy asked, "What is that thing?"

I said, "It's a camper. It has a kitchen, bed and bathroom."

The girl heard that and said, "A bathroom? Eeeeeeeewwww!!!"

Kinda how people thought in the early 1900's. A toilet inside the house :e7:

Early 1900's?

Both my Grandma's house and the house I live in had no indoor plumbing until the mid 1950's.

Our current house was electrified at the same time, at that time it was 100 years old. Must have been interesting with candlelight.

Yep, I have family in Iowa Mike :a1: and going to an outhouse back there was a little freaky for me as a little kid. Talk about Eeeeeeeewwww!!! A kid could fall in there!
As far as the house I grew up in it, was electrified in 1918 but I guess its moot because it was built inside a power station yard. The trouble was trying to get people to not freak when they came to visit. Having to walk through a pad locked gate that said DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE KEEP OUT seemed to scare people for some reason :b1:

I can see how kids would think that a PP in a van would be kinda strange. I'll keep mine outside too.

You guys have indoor plumbing? At home? I just usually go to work and use theirs. That's what most of us do here in Tn.

So you want the SMB to be viewed as an outhouse? :i7:
