Vehicle Name Mobile Soil Lab : (name pending final buildout)
Year 2015
Make Chevy
Model Quigley 3500
Color White/Black
Packages (pending)
2015 Chevy Quigley 3500
2015 Chevy Quigley 3500
History Proud owner of Chevy Quigley 3500. In May, 2015, I took a 3am Oakland->Reno Greyhound Bus to purchase the van from Champion Chevrolet (3am is a FUN time to be at the Oakland bus station). It was a challenging van to procure, with limited national availability, so I did what had to be done.

I am a geochemist that studies soil development in the desert southwest. Van was built to support remote soil sampling and analysis. I had a custom chemistry bench built for the back allowing for flexibility when in the field.
Exterior
LineX high rockers and hood. Desert brush can be brutal on the paint job, so I opted for enhanced armor. I think it turned out pretty good.

Aluminess front brushgaurd and rear bumper with full galley box and tire carrier.

Aluminess roof rack with rear rollers adjustable cross bar, and PV mount.

Interior
RB-50 with penthouse top.

Custom lab bench from BenchPro for the back.
Soil related equipment:
mobile XRF (for in-field trace element analysis); full suite of ion selective electrodes; Leica stereo microscope; liquid nitrogen tank for DNA/RNA preservation; various shovels/picks/hammers/sieves; and misc. sample preparation and preservation supplies.

Wheels, Tires, & Suspension
Stock Quigley 4x4 kit.

BFG TKO2 (265/70 R15). Stock steel wheels.

Under the Hood
6.0L V8 Gas. vroom, vroom.

Systems, Solar, & Electronics
185w PV, 2800 w inverter, 4D battery. 20gal H2O, hot water, external shower.

Favorite Destinations
CA/OR coast, northern New Mexico, and eastern Sierra.
