And here are the pictures....

PS- It's in Reno, NV, but I'd be happy to drive it down to the SF Bay Area.

For Sale: 2006 SMB RB50

4x4 Sportsmobile for Sale - Asking $65k. We'll probably end up listing with Lynn at SMB West, but need to get it all checked out first so listing it here. My guess is they'll list it for more based...

Thanks! The other recommendation I got was Folbeck, which is a general 4WD rock crawler place. My gut says they'd be fine for the 4WD components (hubs, gears, suspension) but not great on the 6.0...

Re: Drivetrain and Transfer Case Carnage

Well, that's a very good point. At this point _I_ know very very little. I've got a call in to Advance Adapters (who does the Atlas) and will get Ford to look at the transmission/vehicle. It's all...

Re: Drivetrain and Transfer Case Carnage

I have a bit more info, none of it good. The transmission is shot. The atlas is shot. The shop said there's no way it was the U joints or the rear yoke based on what happened (remains to be seen)...

Re: Drivetrain and Transfer Case Carnage

Yeah, I've got some basic shots of it. Probably should have done the full accident scene (not that there was actually an accident), but at least have the basics. I'm certainly hoping they cover...

Drivetrain and Transfer Case Carnage

Soooooo, driving along the freeway at about 65mph, a sudden and rapid 'bang bang bang bang....' and shaking. I immediately think it's a tire blowout, and because the steering isn't pulling, figure...

Re: house batter

PS- when I was looking at Li-Ion, I was looking at LiFePO4 batteries that contained internal charge controllers that allowed them to be hooked in as direct replacements for lead acid, so that your...

Re: house batter

I've given the Lithium Iron Phosphate variants a reasonable look, for a few reasons, not the least of which is:

A. They generally follow a similar voltage profile to lead acid, where as any of the...

Re: house batter

We use our rig infrequently, and after (gulp) 8 years our house battery is basically useless. Now that we have a solar panel on the roof which we didn't before (should help keep voltage up on long...

Re: Recommended 4x4 Service in Bay Area?

Hey Paul,

I too used Redline and found them very helpful and knowledgeable. They had a problem on my 4WD system, and worked all night (!!!) to get it done in time. I will definitely use them...

Re: DIY Aluminum Underfloor Storage

That's an interesting approach, but I think would depend on what you wanted to store in it. If you do go that way, make sure you have some integrated cinch straps so that once it's full, you can...

Re: Water tank and lines freezing in winter?

No. The tank is INSIDE. The leak is coming from the actual drain pipe that is outside the van. It appears to be coming from the connection between the tank and drain pipe.[/quote]

Weird. Do you...

Re: Water tank and lines freezing in winter?

Hey Martin,

Don't know how hard it is to replace, but I'm guessing... hard-ish. from my layout, I know I'd likely have to uninstall part of the cabinets, and possibly the countertop. My...

Re: Recommended 4x4 Service in Bay Area?

Yeah, it's a ford, but they (and most other regular places) don't want to touch the removal of non-standard 4x4 components, in this particular case the disassembly of the wheels to lube the wheel...
