Reminds me of the time I was with a friend somewhere off-road late at night, kind of in a hurry to meet up with some others. He was driving his Bronco and managed to get the right front wheel stuck...

I don't have an SMB currently so that has definitely slowed things down regarding checking in here, though I still do check in periodically.
But as BrianW said above "The forum design itself is...

Re: Doofas time. Any body else do this?
Makes sense on one level, but from a pilot-in-command perspective the driver needs to take full responsibility for the operation of his vehicle. My dog probably didn't think of telling me she was...

Re: Doofas time. Any body else do this?
Funny story. I had a similar event a few years ago in Montana. I had stopped at some river and went for a hike with my two Jack Russell Terriers. Afterwards the dogs and I got in the van and drove...

Re: Smoking brake (just one)
A stuck caliper is my first thought.
But on a front wheel, it seems like you might notice it pulling.
Maybe some organic matter, e.g. leaves, a rag, or some kind of , got caught in the brakes...

Re: Best Roadside Assist
Thanks for the perspective.
Any more detail on the filling station story? I'm imagining you using a fillings station as a runaway truck ramp.

Re: Best Roadside Assist
Was the heater hose issue due to a loose clamp? I.e. would it be preventable in the future by occasionally tightening hose clamps?
Why does a failed vaccum booster require a tow? Massive vacuum...

Re: Best Roadside Assist
This may be a ridiculous question, but: towed 3+ times in 3 years? That seems like a very lot. May I ask why you've needed so many?

Re: Trailer Transport 4x4 SMB through the USA
In case driving is an option, I think it's possible to get an inexpensive temporary movement permit in the state of origin (e.g. in this case Oregon [origin/Oregon get it? Never mind...]) that will...

I don't remember the genesis of the "don't pull too hard on those shackle points" advice, but it might have been in literature I got with the bumper. Don't have any paperwork on that rig...

Re: Why bumpers and fender flares?
I had the Aluminess bumpers front and rear on my previous van. My current one has stock bumpers. The big plus for the Aluminess bumpers is storage, without a doubt. It constantly bugged me that...
