I have re-plumbed much of the 'extra' coolant lines in the past decade, but am still feeding all the extra stuff (coolant heater, fuel-tank heater, potable-water-heater, coolant filter) from the...

We had a failure of the lower bolts on an electric pop top, and resolved it with new shouldered-bolts and a bracket to put the bolts into double-shear. 14.5 years of use later the bolts are still...

The upgrade has been done, along with the Dynatrac big-brake kit since I was replacing a lot of stuff (the break took out the spindle, locking hub, hub, etc).
The shaft snapped when in a river...

Re: Motor sporting SMBers out there?
I raced outboard hydroplanes as a kid.
Now I avoid racing, but like track-days on my home-built motorcycle

Re: 6.0 PSD Oil Fill Tube Bracket question
We have an 05, and there is definitely a U shaped bracket arching over all that from the alternator toward the driver's side. Nearly no wiggle to the oil-fill tube.

Re: Accurate fuel mileage readings
Well, many magnets are ceramic or chrome plated (the one I used was a chrome plated 1"x1" rare-earth), but my whole tank is just mild steel, and uncoated on the inside. You may get some rust above...

Re: Snow load
We use cargo load bars that we shortened to fit between the ceiling and the ledge at the front and rear of the penthouse bed, one at each end.
We were also at City of Rocks when our roof...

Re: Accurate fuel mileage readings
The vent that matters is the one welded into the tank, not the one in the pickup/sending unit (I capped that one off, though SMB had it T'd into the other vent for some reason). Its a bit hard to...

Re: To CC, or not to CC?
We did a few thousand miles religiously using CC, and found a significant (~2mgp) drop in mileage in that period (far more than our change from 32 to 37" tires). Since then it is rarely on and out...

Re: The Full Badger
I've always been told "You never go full Badger!"
(looks nice, when parked for a while under trees in fall/spring I throw a tarp over our hood to keep out leaves & flowers/pollen)

After one of the times we had to drop our Transfer-Flow 46gal tank, I had it completely empty, and so was able to measure the complete fill.
With a hole in the internal surround of the vent...

Re: Finding a full floater
I believe the stock 60.1ff shaft is a 1.31" 32 spline (measured at about 1.32" max). The Van 60.1ffaxles use the same axle tubes and spindles as a D70, so they are already bored out to about 1.58"...

Re: Finding a full floater
Nope, no seals involved unless you pull the hubs off which isn't necessary if the donor axle is in good shape. The bearings are on the carrier and in the hubs, so the shafts don't interface them at...

Re: Fan-tastic vent in the window?
