Took two more runs up the hill. The engine pitch changes (hi/low/hi/low/hi/low) occur more at 1/2 throttle. They disappear when I either shift to a lower gear or keep the throttle wide open. ...

Mike - I've noticed the sound change over the past several months. It only happens when I am going up a very steep grade. Generally I am in 2nd gear. If the throttle is wide open it won't do it...

carringb - Thanks for the info. When in 2nd or 3rd gear and under load there is a pitch change in the sound of the engine if the throttle is not open fully. I always switch the OD off when driving...

I have an '03 SMB 4X4 with 27,000 mi. Drove over Tioga Pass and noticed some slipping when in 2nd.
Has anyone had to have a transmission rebuilt?
At how many miles?
Did you go to a dealer or...
