Re: Whitey Ford

Thanks both of you! It's truly a labor of love. I learn so much about space usage from spending time in the van, camping, and from working on it, that I'm always wanting to putter around. I'm hoping...

Re: Whitey Ford

Here's a shot of the front shelving. Please excuse the mess - it's right after I threw everything back in the van. When you work in the street and have no garage, you have to move fast. I have since...

Re: Whitey Ford

Recently re-did much of the interior. I wanted to re-orient the bed so that it would face longitudinally, rather than barely making it cross-wise in the back. Since I have a platform bed with a...

Re: Whitey Ford

I don't have a top, so that changes things. I'm a Quadvan homebrew. I keep thinking about getting a Voyager top, but I have been using the roof rack so much and now have the solar panel mounted,...

Re: Whitey Ford

They basically did, but there were some twists along the way. I'm happy with the new ones so far.

Chance I'll be passing nearby in a month. I'll keep you posted. Some depends on the weather.

Re: Whitey Ford

Got the awning up today and yes, I know - THIS POST IS USELESS WITHOUT PHOTOS - but I'm tired and I finished in the dark, so I'll have to post them another day.

I must say, after trying a few...

Re: Whitey Ford

Yeah, they were pretty decent guys to talk with. Sent them a photo of the rack and they recommended the standard brackets.

I have a piece of poplar around, just in case, that I can bolt to the...

Re: Whitey Ford

Been busy. In the last month, I put in some rear LED lighting to replace the fluorescents. It's super bright and I'm quite happy with the results.

Got new tires, went with Goodyear Dura-Trac....

Re: Whitey Ford

Ron,

I'm meeting a friend of mine tonight and we're mapping out a plan. I would love to and it's about 50/50 right now.

If we even come close, I'll contact you a day or two beforehand and let...

Re: Whitey Ford

I saw a white hightop with Alaska plates. There may have been a beige there, but I don't recall seeing it. Actually, there was a beige one there that they were installing a 46 gal tank on.

I may...

Re: Whitey Ford

Went into Quadvan today - yes, I was in Portland - and they did their usual great work. John took a couple of hours to check a concern I had about the low range shifter - it was fine; to repair a...

Re: Whitey Ford

Too tired to explain much, but I got the van today from Tekris, who put in some golf cart batteries, upping my power significantly, along with a solar panel.

Last week, I had the Fantastic Vent...

Re: Whitey Ford

So, if you haven't been following my Propex thread, I am close to abandoning that and selling the unused unit. Don't want to deal with all my local tunnels with propane. Outside chance I'll hook it...

Re: Whitey Ford

Took the plunge.

Ordered a Propex 2000 today, along with a tank.

Got some Grade 8 bolts coming, along with Red RTV.

I'm hoping to have it up and running by mid December.

Stay tuned and...

Re: Whitey Ford

I thought of you as I flew by Rawlins recently, but it was not meant to be on that last trip or this current one.

Hopefully, next year I'll get out west again.

Re: Whitey Ford

I have been woefully lax in keeping up this thread. I'll try to catch up soon, but I'm on the road.

I'll try to get up photos of my interior shelving and the foil paneling. Problem is, since I'm...

Re: Whitey Ford

I have been continuously doing things to the van - as enumerated recently in the "what did you to your smb thread?" (even though mine is not a smb, but a quadvan homebrew d.i.y.)

Anyway, let me...

Re: Whitey Ford

It's nine square feet. If I were to do it again, I might go J.C. Whitney - it's much cheaper. I just happened to have a big job that month and ordered it while I had the money. If it were this month,...

Re: Whitey Ford

Hi Sandi,

I got it from Second Skin Audio cause I wanted the foil on both sides.

You can get it cheaper from J.C. Whitney, though. Not sure how it compares in terms of quality.

Be sure to...

Re: Whitey Ford

Finally, two quick shots from Deaver. One before the extra leaf was added, one after. The leveling difference is subtle, but the ride difference was huge. I then went and weighed the rig at the...

Re: Whitey Ford

Well, I have been really lax in posting, but that should change soon. I just put on 11,000 miles in a little over three weeks and all went well, aside from a minor possible driveline vibration under...
