I don't think the Eurovans or Vanagons are really that much more prone to failures or more expensive to fix, aside from the few "biggie" issues like head gaskets on the waterboxers....

As far as I know, GTRV is the only company still doing Astro/Safari vans, as well as some generations of Toyota Sienna and Chrysler vans, I think.
