Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

A couple more things in my opinion:

CRC Brakleen is the best

H.F. Dark Blue Nitrile Gloves are the best

Phenolic is plastic piston

I have decided never to turn rotors again. It has never...

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

JoeH: Just a heads up. I cleaned up my calipers and did not replace them. The Napa calipers I looked at had plastic pistons. My vehicle's calipers had metal pistons. Apparently the two types are...

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

I wasn't really going to work on the brakes this weekend, but I wanted to install the Mile Marker manual locking hubs (see related thread) so I did fool with the caliper on the driver's side.

The...

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

I am passing on the Motul. The Motul fluid advisor only goes back to 1997 for the Ford F-150 and does not list the Bronco which was last manufactured in 1996. Although, under the Classic car button...

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

Thanks guys! Mueckster whom I really respect (he rebuilt his own 4R100 transmission for heaven's sake) over at the FTE forum has this to say:

"Moisture in the brake fluid is one of the biggest...

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

carringb: Wow. Talk about turning the telescope around! So there are two opposing approaches to brake bleeding? One is pressurize the master cylinder (Motive power brake bleeder) and second is...

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

Thanks Paul! Every time I see your avatar, I want to ask is that speck on the top of that pinnacle you?

My wife and kayaked 243 miles of the Grand Canyon (with raft support for cushy camping) and...

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

boywonder: First of all, very few things are obvious to me and many things that I once thought were obvious, are more and more not, in fact, what I thought. So, you will never offend me by pointing...

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

JoeH: Probably out of my price range and hopefully not really necessary, but after looking at The Brake Man's website for you that have run them, is it really true that these calipers are "zero...

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

BogusBlake: You also get a gold star for the photos in your thread and your discussion with carringb about Ford SuperDOT3 or DOT-5.1 and Motorcraft PM-1C. Can I assume that the latter is the...

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

Thanks guys! I printed out the Permatex photo and will take it with me to Napa.

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

Re: Rebuild or Remanufactured Brake Calipers?

The deal is that the front brake pads are dragging on the discs with the existing (likely original 1995) calipers thereby blackening the front wheels with brake dust (ok, they are on my 1995 Ford...
