It was an aluminess but he stuffed a "proper" 15K winch plate (L shaped) and a 15,000lb winch in there. In other words, Heavy and Heavier.

Are you supposed to push the old grease out? I'd always heard that overfilling with grease until it came out the seals would weaken the seals or leave them open to more contamination. True or not?

Wow, you deserve a gold star for stopping! Imagine how much worse the problem could have been if you hadn't taken a few minutes to check the vibration!

You can't really just tie a driveshaft...
