Well I think if you used something like Google Sketchup it would avoid any possible issues, and you could actually use it as a planning tool (to scale) as well as illustrate your plans. It's free...

Another thing you can do to add a bit more safety is to go ahead and drill through the top and bottom plate and yakima bars. A few holes won't hurt and that way loosening won't allow the plates to...

If you saved some of the fabric you can make a loop with a snap or velcro to hold back the curtains while they're open. Attach it just outside the window frame to have more viewable window.

Ah suddenly the four vertical boards make sense!

Are you doing something more the the seat fronts to keep them from folding than what is visible in the photos?
