If we're talking alternatives, my F250 has an in dash slide out drink tray. Not sure what all you'd have to salvage one with the workings, but it's another option to look for.

There is barely enough room under mine for the 6.0L, much less a layer of Dynamat... I doubt the cover itself can get much smaller.

The doghouse on yours is relatively flat, yes? In Sliver350s photo you can see the posts are just pretty much washers on the ends of screws (in fact I fixed a broken one with just that). I think...

Use the alternative driver side-entry articulating portal with internal un-latching ability. Or take Yoga.

It has to be really crappy out (storming, muddy, active volcano) for me to not exit and...
