So the inside wall (to the scissor) of the master arm is not on threads, the outside wall is- regardless of which length bolt is used. Does that really make the shorter bolt more prone to failure in...

What are these, 1/4"? Grade 8 are 91,000 lb/in² so the loss in surface area at the threads is ... about 40%?

"Adjusting" is just moving a link down on the chain to increase tension- to do so you have to release the chain, so even though you're putting the bolt back in the same place, I figured it would be...

Well, first make sure you've got replacements... no sense getting the top up and having it stuck. :b3:

The top is very heavy, you probably need two things- a way to lift if and a way to support...
