I'd avoid contact cement opting instead for something like a Robert's brand pressure carpet tile adhesive, their p/n 2077. It has great holding power, allows for repositioning and relatively easy...

FWIW the older E-Series roof ribs were removable; a bolt on one end, tab inserted into the side roof beam and expanding foam adhesive to secure the roof sheet metal. Fortunately that adhesive...

Not sure how the paint under the wrap looks after its removed but a bit rubbing compound hand-applied followed by a good hard wax (also hand applied) should smooth out any color differences.
