I'm told that my starter batteries will charge while on shore power. With a dead cell or some other anomaly, the battery will continue to receive a charge, needed or not.

Last week I boiled my starter batteries while on shore power. Woke up to the smell of sulfur in our driveway. Could hear the batteries boiling from 50' away. Felt the battery box and it was too...
