The normal frame rate for film is 30 frames per second. Slow motion is shot at a much higher frame rate sometimes into the 1,000s of fps.

1. Control. The action happens too fast to get the shot at high speeds. The video also looks more realistic when slowed down.

In case you were wondering.

299 kph = 186 mph
280 kph = 174 mph
200 kph = 124 mph

All are way faster than I want to drive.
